Giants retain Tomon Fox while bracing for pass rusher to leave

With the cusp of losing an external linebacker, the Giants got cost-effective help.

The Giants re-signed exclusive free agent Tomon Fox on Friday to the standard one-year minimum pay agreement (no bond).

Fox played in 28 games over three seasons, earning a total of 207 defensive snaps and 205 special teams in 11 games last season.

Quarterback Tommy DeVito is expected to re-sign a similar deal to an exclusive rights free agent.

The other two Erfas, linebacker Dyontae Johnson and cornerback Divaad Wilson will become unlimited free agents if they have not received an offer by noon Monday.

The prediction is that the Giants will lose their odds when the free agency opens next week.

Ojulari (22 career sacks in 46 games) was the third-largest edge rusher after the Starters' Brian Burns and Cavontibodeau last season.

Slide the 26-year-old Fox (two career sacks) into the role would be a big question, but he can provide depth.
