The Associated Press (AP) targeted the U.S. Department of Defense on Thursday to work to remove diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) from the military.

Chief Pentagon spokesman Shawn Parnell wrote in a social media post Friday:

“The Pentagon has not made clear whether some mis-flagged images will be restored, and officials have said that the archived content is inconsistent across branches,” the outlet reported Thursday.

“Our unity and purpose will help us meet divisional combat missions. Efforts to divide forces – to place one group ahead of another, erode friendship and threaten mission execution,” he said in official guidance.
On February 26th, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell issued a memo to the department ordering official content online to encourage DEIs to be removed, Breitbart News reported.
The note states, “DEI Content includes, but is not limited to, information that facilitates programs, concepts, or material regarding critical racial theories, gender ideology, preferential treatment or assignments based on gender, race or ethnicity, or promotion and selection reform, the advisory board, council, and other DEI-related issues regarding working groups.”
