Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky seeks more sanctions on Russia

President Volodymyr Zelensky is calling for more sanctions against Russia after massive airstrikes hit Ukraine twice in a row, killing at least 20 people, even though Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin is reportedly ready to make a deal.

“Everything that supports Putin's funding must destroy the war.” Ukrainian leader posted on X On Saturday, he called Russian tactics “despicable and inhuman.”

Dozens more were injured, including civilians and children.

Zelensky said the strike indicates that Russia's purpose remains unchanged and that it seeks further sanctions on Saturday. Via Reuters

The attack has significantly reduced the country's ability to defend itself following the US decision to halt satellite image sharing with Ukraine on Friday.

Meanwhile, Moscow claims it is seizing three towns in Kursk, Russia, and there have been several reports that Ukrainian troops in the region are surrounded.

Ukraine has been occupying border territory since August, but its position has deteriorated in recent months as Russia brought in North Korean troops to help it counterattack. The situation is “very bad” and Ukraine reports that it is considering pulling it out.

A withdrawal prior to peace negotiations will seriously hit Ukraine's negotiating power.

Zelensky said he would not attend the planned ceasefire talks in Saudi Arabia along with the US. His decision comes a week after a disastrous crying game at the White House.

The Ukrainian leader said he would travel to Saudi Arabia to travel to Saudi Arabia, but meeting Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman would keep Ukrainian diplomats and military representatives at meetings with the United States.

Putin is reportedly willing to discuss a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine if parameters for the final peace settlement are established and sources of leaders have been established. I told Bloomberg.

Russia wants to resolve details of the final peacekeeping mission that will come after the ceasefire, including which countries will be involved.
