Data from Pew Research shows that all sorts of rifles, including those Democrats labeling “ASSAULT weapons,” account for just 4% of US shooting murders in 2023.
Pue Gathered Data via the FBI and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Reports showed that there were 17,927 shooting murders in the United States in 2023, with 13,529 people, or 53%, committed to handguns.
Four percent of US gun homicides have been committed to rifles and 1% have been committed to shotguns.
The rifle has long been an outlier, as far as the weapon chosen for murder is concerned. On October 10, 2022, Breitbart News pointed to the FBI figures shown by twice as many people killed with knives and other cutting tools than they were killed with rifles in 2021.
Additionally, Breitbart News said FBI figures showed that in 2020, more than 3.5 times more people were killed with a “knife or cutting device” than they were killed with a rifle in 2020.
Despite the FBI findings and figures released by the CDC and highlighted by Pew Research, Democrats from various states, such as Colorado and New Mexico, are working to secure a ban on guns with a variety of rifles and shotguns, while federal level Democrats are seeking “weapons of assault” after almost every gun crime.
