NYC pol avoids last name in mayoral campaign to distance herself from Eric Adams

Call her Adrian.

NYC Council speaker Adrienne Adams launched a mayoral campaign at Queens Shopping Center on Saturday, showing off campaign posters and other literature highlighting only her name.

“Adrienne. Democrats for the Mayor of New York in a Bold Letter” were hung in a shopping center in Rochdale Village. There, the speaker was greeted by around 300 supporters.

Her last name was listed only in the small print at the bottom. No other campaign materials could mention it at all.

When asked if she was focusing on her name to distance herself from the mayor, the speaker said, “You got caught up in it, isn't it, Adrian for people.”

Campaign Insider confirmed that the name game is to make sure you don't think it has anything to do with her political rival.
