Sen. Andy Kim (D-NJ) was a “offensive” Republican on Sunday in CNN's “union status,” and President Donald Trump said transgender students were blocking play in women's sports.
Kim said: And what we know is that we are talking about a handful of people, a handful of athletes across the country. These decisions can be made in a way that does not require the entire federal government to come over it. What I say to the Americans here is Republicans, especially Trump, he's trying to make this about safety, but it's not about the safety and safety of our children. You know, I have 7 and 9 years old. If it's about safety and security, you may have seen Trump and Republicans do something about the 330 school shootings we had last year. This is a fear of having two elementary school students.
He added: “It's not about safety and security. It's about politics, and that's what I find very uncomfortable about this. As someone who's worried about the state of our education system, and we're now looking at this when President Trump is trying to gush the entire Department of Education and hurt what I believe is in the common interest in this country when it comes to education. That's what I really wanted to make clear. This isn't about safety and security, it's all about politics.”
