Australia live news: flood evacuation warnings in NSW and Queensland as waters rise after ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred deluge | Tropical Cyclone Alfred

NSW and Queensland flood emergency warning issued

There's a little more information on the flooding here from NSW SES.

There are major floods on the Clarence River, with emergency warnings to evacuate people for those living in Harwood, Chatworth, Warega, Harwood, Grafton and downstream of the Goodwood Islands. Inhabitants of these islands will be isolated until the flood recedes.

Along the Richmond River, residents of Bungawalbin are advised that it is too late to leave the area and evacuate to the highlands due to massive flooding. There are also major floods in Koraki.

Very heavy rainfall fell overnight in Queensland and Tweed Valley. This rainfall has updated flood levels throughout the region and is expected to last longer throughout Monday in many locations, including Tumbulgum.

Further south, the McCree River could reach moderate flood levels in Kempsey and Smithtown, with residents being encouraged to prepare to evacuate. The head of a hat, the crescent moon, and rocks in the southwestern part can also be isolated.

Flood monitoring is in place for small floods in the northwest and central west of the state.

Important Events

And back up to Queensland with the premiere David Crisafulli I was talking about it on ABC News just before.

He had warned people not to run out of floods.

My message is merely for caution. Do not go and drive flooded water. Doing the little things right will allow you to pass through this event.

There's too much rain left for us. Overwhelmedly, you always need to put your safety first. It is the number one disaster, and property can replace what people can't do.

He said cleanup would be a big job, but Queenslander kept it.

You can see this through this at any stage or wherever you are in Queenslander. This will make you feel stronger and more resilient.

SES Assistant Commissioner, stays at NSW for 1 second Shawn Kearns He said the overall situation for Extropical Cyclone Alfred looks more promising than it was a few days ago. This is what he had to say:

With some warnings reduced over the weekend and conditions relaxed in Lismore, Kigole, Weianguly, Arawara Beach and Darlington Beach, we are extremely pleased that some residents can return with caution.

But we have not yet left the forest. Massive flooding and quarantine are still occurring in many communities, and the predicted risk of heavy rain that continues through Monday and Tuesday only exacerbates this risk.

We may see new rises in the river, but we hope we have seen the worst rain from this event.

Residents along Brisbane's Enogera Creek catchment are warned to prepare to move up to the highlands as the Enogera Dam overflows.

The dam is currently 240% capacity and spills into the creek system, which peaked just below major flood levels last night.

The current concern is that the combination of high tide, water spills from the reservoir and heavy rains will cause flooding of homes.

Guardian Australia saw the creek breach the bank and spill into the park and nearby streets yesterday. These photos (about 10:30am) were from when the stream was below “minor” flood levels. It appears that there may be a much more serious situation today.
