Authorities say a small plane carrying five passengers crashed in the brothers village in Mannheim Township shortly after taking off from nearby Lancaster Airport at 3:15pm

“A beech bonanza crashed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on Sunday, March 9th around 3pm local time,” the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). “Five people were on board. The FAA will investigate.”

Air traffic control voice shared on social media shows the moment when the pilot told ground agents that he was forced to turn because the aircraft doors were opened.

At one point, the pilot is heard saying he cannot listen to the radio due to the wind noise caused by the unlocked hatch.

“Pull-up… the aircraft is right behind the terminal in the wooden area of the parking lot,” the desperate air traffic controller pleaded.

Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-Pa.) said the cause of the crash on the small plane is still under investigation and emergency services are on the scene.

“The Pennsylvania State Police team is supporting local first responders following the crash crash of a small private plane near Lancaster Airport in Mannheim Township,” Shapiro wrote in X's post.

“As response continues, all federal resources will be available and more information will be provided as they become available,” he added.

Authorities have not commented on the number of potential injuries or deaths.
