Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) said Monday on MSNBC's “Rachel Madow Show” that US Government Efficiency (DOGE) is ruining people's lives.
Madou said, “Do I have to ask you if you have any responses to the President's top campaign donor, Musk, who said you're calling you a traitor, in response to what you're writing about your trip to Ukraine?”
Kelly said: “I was 22 years old. Before I was sworn into the Navy, or when I was sworn into the US Navy. I took an oath to our Constitution to protect and defend the Constitution. I live that oath throughout my life. I flew into battle in the first Gulf War. I worked in the US Navy for 25 years. I spent 15 years at NASA, putting my life flying the space shuttle in danger. And the only vow I can think of was Elon, who has his own checking account, his pocket. You can think of it as an oath to the Book. A vow to ruin the lives of veterans. I had a veteran in my office last week. He found out after a really good performance report that Elon Musk fired them because of poor performance. He ruined the lives of these people. They were serving our country again in invaluable roles, so they didn't deserve to be fired by email from unelected billionaires.”
He added: “I think Elon needs to go back to making rockets. You know that's what he should focus on. He shouldn't focus on this federal slash and burns.”
