Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton forcedly denied allegations from Tucker Carlson that he had shut down the release of files regarding the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
Carlson was interviewing Chris Cuomo when he alleged that the Republican senator opposed the release of the JFK Files and ultimately condemned Cotton.
“I'd told him. He's been texting me many times over the past few weeks, so he knows how to get to me.”
Cotton denied the allegation on Tuesday.
“This is wrong. There is no problem releasing the 'JFK file'. If @tuckercarlson asked me, I've texted him many times over the past few weeks so he knows how to reach me. I said Senator on social media.
Carlson initially did not disclose the senator's name, but politicians argued that the person opposed the hiring of someone to the work of the intelligence news community in order to promote the release of the file.
“You have a seated member of the US Senate whose main goal is to keep these files secret. And you have to ask yourself!” he said. “Exactly! Why?”
Cuomo pushed Carlson to reveal the senator's name, and he insisted it was cotton.
“By the way, people doubt you!” Cuomo replied. “…and did you go to him and find a reason?”
“Well, I need to sit with him. I don't know if he'll interview me,” Carlson replied.
Cotton appeared to react directly to Carlson. Another Post on social media.
“I would have explained that I had never spoken to President Trump or his fellow operatives about the files,” he added. [Director of National Intelligence] Tarshi Gabbard, [CIA Director] John Ratcliffe, [U.S. Attorney General] Pam Bondy, [FBI Director] Kash Patel and other officials will release files appropriately in accordance with President Trump's orders. ”
In February, Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna announced she was tasked with leading efforts to identify and release JFK files.
