Mets’ Brandon Nimmo opens up to The Post on Opening Day status

PORT ST. Lucy – The constant Brandon Nemo hopes he'll be ready for the opening day in Houston on March 27th, but he admits that his sore right knee still has to improve to get there.

Nemo took several steps on Wednesday, running through bases, smacking the field and receiving gel injections on his knees, earning at-bats in a minor league match, allowing him to play just one Grapefruitreug match this spring.

“I definitely think it's good on the first day,” Nemo told the Post after finishing his at-bat with the Astros minor leaguer in the backfield near Clover Park. “But we will see. We don't know the future. As we move backwards, it can go in a different direction, but I feel good on the first day right now. Once things go on, I should be good.”

On February 28th, 2025, Brandon Nimo was featured on the plate during his only Mets Spring Training appearance. Corey Shipkin for the New York Post

Before the batting, Nemo trained at Clover Park, running the base at about 85%, adding other stressors to the nasty knee that had no signs of structural damage.
