Vikings defensive back Harrison Smith is back in his 14th season with the team.
Minnesota and the longtime Vikings agree to a reworked contract for the 2025 season and will be able to return to another year with the only NFL team he has ever played. Athletic Alex Luis reported on wednesday.
Smith's New Deal is worth around $11 million and includes incentives that could bring up to $14 million.
Smith was an important part of the Vikings, an important part of the Vikings both on and off the field, and it was becoming more and more important to keep him after Safety Come Bynum signed with the Colts.
Defensive coordinator Brian Flores and head coach Kevin O'Connell didn't want to see Smith leave, Lewis reported.
The first round pick of 2012, Smith played all 13 years in the NFL on 1,126 tackles, 20.5 sacks and 37 intercepts in 192 games, and played all 13 years in the NFL on 1,000 lake land.
Smith has been selected six times in the Pro Bowl in his career, with first team All-Pro in 2017 and second team All-Pro in 2018.

Smith is expected to be led by the organization's honor ring whenever he decides to retire, and has a good case for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The 36-year-old took him time to understand what his future holds after the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
