Most Americans have not approved President Trump's handling of the economy weeks after his second term, new research has found.
investigation, Released on Thursday Quinnipiac University found that 54% of respondents disapproved of Trump's handling of the economy. 41% have approved his economic policies so far.
The number of people who disapproved has been rising since the February survey. Last month, 44% approved Trump's economic treatment, while 48% disapproved.
Since the last investigation, Trump's tariff plans have been in place. A 25% tariff was placed on neighbors in the US in Mexico and Canada.
The president has given a month's exemption for certain items, including auto parts, but the threat of a trade war and the rise in prices of everyday items have sparked concern among Americans, causing stock markets to fall.
While most Americans disapprove of Trump's trade and tariff handling in Mexico and Canada, studies found that a 10% tariff on China is preferred over a disadvantage.
The survey noted that respondents were not positive about the economy and that the ratings were immersed in levels that were not seen since May 2023.
23% of respondents said the economy is in good or good condition, while 76% say it is not good or poor. Since January, the number of people who say the economy is the most pressing issue in the country has risen by 6 percent, Quinnipiac said.
The survey was conducted between 1,198 respondents from March 6-10 with an error of 2.8 percentage points.
