The American Airlines plane suddenly fell into flames after detouring to Denver International Airport on Thursday night.
The Texas-bound Boeing 737-800 was rerouted to the airport shortly after taking off from Colorado Springs, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, when crews reported engine vibrations.
The American Airlines flight, carrying 172 passengers and six crew, landed in Denver around 5:15pm and caught fire as the plane's engines taxied to the tarmac, the FAA and the airline said.
Passengers then used slides to evacuate, the federal agency said.
No injuries were reported after a horrific flame exploded on a plane heading towards Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, officials said.
A video shared on social media showed flames and smoke consuming aircraft as airport crews worked to extinguish the horrifying flames.
Another video from inside the airport also shows passengers standing on the wings of the aircraft in a wave of smoke.
It is not clear how the fire began.
The FAA will investigate.
