Liberal Mark Carney has been sworn in as Canada's newest prime minister, despite not being elected after Justin Trudeau's resignation.
The 59-year-old runs the Bank of Canada during the 2008 financial crisis and the Bank of England during Brexit, when the country left the European Union. He is currently tasked with running Canada in deepening his trade war with his biggest trading partner, the United States.
“We will never, in any way shape or become part of America.”
“Today, we're building a government that meets in that moment. Canadians are looking forward to action, and that's what this team has to offer.” It was promised On social media. “A smaller, more experienced cabinet that moves faster, secures the economy and protects Canada's future.”
Trudeau announced his resignation after the Canadian Liberal Party faced a disastrous election due to economic and immigration issues, but the party's popularity skyrocketed after Trump issued tariffs on imports. Trump implies that tariffs are a strategy that forces Canada to consider becoming part of the United States.
Trudeau forcefully deny that possibility, and Carney continues to resist Trump's proposition.
“We never, in any way, shape or form it as part of the United States. America is not Canada.” Carney said. “We are a very fundamentally a different country.”
Carney said he is willing to meet President Donald Trump only if the president pays tribute to Canadian sovereignty after President Trump suggested that the country should consider becoming a US nation.
“The president is a successful businessman and contract maker. We are his biggest client in so many industries,” Carney added. “Clients look forward to respect and cooperation in a proper commercial way.”
Kearney also calls Trump's tariffs “crazy.”
The US has the largest economy in the world and While gross domestic product of $27.7 trillion is worth it, Canada is the 10th largest economy worth $2.1 trillion.
