After three impressive races in 2024 with both Ferrari and Haas reserve rules, Oliver Bearman won a full-time seat at Haas in the 2025 Formula One season.
But the Bareman rookie campaign got off to a very difficult start.
The Bearman withstanded a hard shunt during his first practice session on Friday, and was unable to run during FP2 due to damage to the VF-25. So, when the green light came out opening up the FP3's Bearman, it probably wasn't surprising that he was the first driver hoping to make up for the lost time ahead of qualifying.
A few minutes later, Bearman returned to gravel and was out of the session.
This was Bearman crash from FP1 on Friday:
“It's sad that I missed all of today's runs,” Bareman said in a report after the team's practice on Friday. “The team did the perfect job trying to get the car back, but we ran out of time. I made a small mistake on Turn 10.
“I struggled a bit, but I felt confident. FP3 is a long session, I've been in qualifying and the race is now a little roll of the dice.”
Check out Bearman's spin on Turn 11 during FP3.
This will set up a difficult qualifying session for Bearman in Melbourne later today. Because he has to run on just a handful of laps around Albert Park this week. Then, if the forecast on Sunday rains could make the weekend even tougher for one of the Formula 1 rookies.
