TEL AVIV — Israeli Air Force on Thursday attacked the headquarters of a Palestinian Islamic jihadist terrorist organization in Damascus, Syria.
After Damascus collapsed on December 8, 2024, Israel deployed its troops in a demilitarized buffer zone with Syria, and at the same time launched a diplomatic attack to shape the balance of power.
“The deployment of Israeli forces is concentrated around Syria. [side of Mount] Harmon, the highlands of the region, and the highlands in the north of Golan Heights in Syria – more or less along the area, not more [marking the end of the buffer zone]”Lt. Col. (Ret.) former IDF spokesman and now a senior fellow at the Democrat Defense Foundation, Jonathan Conicus, told Fox News Digital.

He continued, “The main threat is ground violations on Israeli communities at the height of Golan by various jihadic elements. We can ensure that the political and military situation is stable and that Israeli military approaches are limited until Israeli forces are guaranteed to ensure that sovereign existence in Syria's rule can be guaranteed.”
While many global players may try to turn a blind eye to the Syrian massacre in hopes of solving the nearly 15-year crisis, analysts say Israel has no such illusion and is urging the IDF to launch more than 300 strikes across the country, including allegations of Assad's air bases and chemical weapons sites, including allegations of the Assad regime air base and chemical weapons sites, as well as allegations.
On Sunday, Israel appeared to have raised ante when new IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, conducted a situational assessment in the buffer zone with Syria. Zamir was the first Chief of Staff to enter Syria.
“Immediately after the collapse of the government, [Israel] Destroyed Syrian military capabilities to confirm some advanced capabilities and air defense [systems] It will not be left in the hands of this regime and be cleared in case Israel has a desire for the future. “They are [also] Set checkpoints on specific druze regions just above the border [and] He declared his willingness to protect Druze. Israel has its own massive minority, loyal and good citizens of Israel who fight in the army. So Israel has deep domestic concerns and concerns in ensuring a Druze community near the border [in Syria] Not the target of the kind of threats or genocide seen over the weekend [Syrian] Coast,” he added.

About 1,000 Alawis, a Shia Islam minority, were killed over several days in the coastal provinces of Tartus and Latakia over the last few days. The killings bring concerns about the new Sunni Islamic government led by Al-Shara, commander of Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS), linked to al-Qaeda, who abdicated Assad.

Conicus said the genocide examined Israel's strategy and emphasized that persecution of the Alawians, Christians, Kurdish and Druze population constitutes a risk to regional stability.
“There is a lot of sectarian violence by various foreign jihad groups. This is a threat. Israel cannot put the lives of Israeli civilians at risk until only the Syrian state controls its weapons,” he said.
“We know that Hezbollah and Iranian factions continue to try to smuggle arms into Syria, and that Tehran is still trying to run a proxy, which is exacerbated by Turkish imperialist actions that could lead to conflict,” he added. “I think it would be a challenge for the Syrian state to try to define borders by the French at the end of World War I.”

Jonathan Spier, director of research at the Middle East Forum, reported from Syria, told Fox News Digital that Jerusalem's purpose is not to be united under the leadership of the Jihadian forces, but to remain decentralized and weak.
“Turkey is the main supporter of the HTS, and Israel sees Ankara as a hostile country with Hamas' active operations. Turkey supports Hamas in the war,” he said.
“Russia is opposed to the US-led global bloc, which is part of Israel, but there is no direct clash between the two countries. Russia has not tried to thwart Israel's bombing campaign against Iran in Syria.”
Israel is reportedly putting pressure on the Trump administration to ensure Syria remains fragmented by giving Russians a green light to maintain domestic bases to counter Turkey.

In 2015, Russia intervened in Syria on behalf of Assad's regime, establishing a forward post base in the Middle East for the first time since the end of the Cold War. Jerusalem and Moscow, along with the IDF directed at Hezbollah in Lebanon, created a de-Kantif mechanism to avoid direct military encounters when the IDF struck Iranian terrorist assets in Syria.

“HTS is an organization that Israel knows well. It was there a few years before Assad's collapse, and its records show that it is the Sunni Jihad Muslim organization it supports. [Hamas’] October 7th [massacre] And I oppose Israel and the Jews,” Speyer said.
“Israel experience before October 7th, and the Gaza War taught that Israelis did not have illusions to say Sunni Muslims are moderate,” he added.
