CBS NY meteorologist Lonnie Quinn taking leave after concussion scare

Local CBS meteorologist Ronnie Quinn is away from the weather obligation after a concussion just before the recent live broadcast and a scary health scare afterwards.

The shocking news was announced by Quinn himself on CBS's Friday night broadcast. So he explained that he was a few weeks away after suffering a head injury.

“I took a good one – I took a Wallop in my head and went to the hospital,” Quinn said, adding that he had received a cat scan that had returned to the negative.

The weather expert said he thought he was in repairs, but things went on to order before. Recent live broadcasts When he temporarily loses his vision with one eye.

“It was just before the 11am news. I started going out on set here, but suddenly I couldn't see it from my left eye,” Quinn said, “And as quickly as it started, it disappeared.”

Quinn, 61, said the episode of blindness lasted for 15 minutes, but he said it aired that night anyway.

Anchor Kristine Johnson pointed out that Quinn is the “perfect expert” and that none of the staff noticed that they were experiencing health issues during the broadcast that night.

He was sent directly from the studio that night to the hospital and once again received positive results from cat scans, adding to the mystery.

Quinn says he finally met with the neurologist and decided to take a short break from the lights, cameras and action.

He serves as Chief Meteorologist on weekdays at 5pm, 11pm and 11pm. Last month, Quinn joined the revamped CBS Evening News, where he hosts a weather segment every night.

“I know this wasn't an easy decision, but it was the best thing and I'll be all here, just like I left it when I came back,” Johnson told Quinn.
