“I now recognize McBride, Delaware representative,” Self said at the hearing, entitled “Arms Control, International Security, US Support for Europe: State Department Review and Reform.”

“Can you repeat the introduction?” Keating replied.

“We set standards on the floors of our homes…” replied the self.

“What is that standard? Do you repeat what I said when I introduced the officially elected representative from the United States?! Please?” Keating said.

“I will. Mr. McBride, the Delaware representative,” he doubled himself with his introduction.

“Mr. Speaker, do you have no good sense? I've come to know you, but this is not decent,” Keating continued, angering.

“We will continue this hearing…” the self began to say.

“You will not continue with me unless you introduce it to a rightly elected representative in the right way,” cried Keating.

McBride ultimately commented on the exchange at a press conference on Thursday, calling Republicans “famous and weird” as “crazy about the issues of culture wars.”

“I look like I'm living in the minds of some of my Republican colleagues without rent,” McBride said. “I hope they spend a small portion of their time thinking about me, thinking about how to cut costs for American families, and actually thinking about how to make government better. …The Republicans are obsessed with the issue of culture wars. It's strange, weird.”
