In Friday's edition of NBC's “MTP Now,” Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME) said he wasn't close to Democrats' close-up messages and strategies, and after the inauguration, many people said, “We're just going to stop focusing on what we're doing wrong, and after we've provided Americans, we need to move on here.
Host Kristen Welker said,[D]Do you think it's close to President Trump's second term, your party, Democrats, finding the cohesive message and strategy of this moment? ”
Golden replied, “No. In fact, after the election, when many people like myself were coming to the show and talking about how the party would find a new direction and find a stronger message, I warned that I had a lot of people had to move on to full resistance and stop focusing on what we're doing wrong and provide the American people. I think it's very important that Democrats remember to focus on themselves, and why Americans voted for Republican-led Congress not just in President Trump, but in both the Senate and House of Representatives. And we have a better understanding of how to assert to the American people who want us after the 2026 election to provide a check of the uncontrolled Republican power we are acting today.”
