Kirk Cousins' time with the Atlanta Falcons has not expired yet.
According to ESPN, the Falcons intend to honor the quarterback's $10 million roster bonus. Payment will be triggered if your cousin is on the Atlanta roster after 4pm on Saturday.
Cousins was benched ahead of Atlanta's 16th Week game against the New York Giants last season.
This move comes after his cousin struggled and threw nine intercepts in five games stretches. In December, Falcons head coach Raheem Morris confirmed that the team's plan for Michael Penix was a “advanced quarterback start.”

Cousins signed a four-year, $180 million contract in March 2024. The deal included a $90 million guarantee and a $10 million roster bonus paid on March 17th.
While Cousins' marriage to the Falcons seemed doomed to divorce, Falcons general manager Terry Fontenott said the organization remains on the team and the 36-year-old who backs up Penix is ”comfortable.”

“We're very comfortable moving our (cosses) forward as a backup.” Fontenot said January. “Kirk is a great guy and he has been a great supporter of Mike. We're very comfortable moving forward with him as a backup.”

The honesty of Fontenott's comments continues to be debated, but the decision to keep four Pro Bowlers on the roster for at least for the time being could potentially allow the quarterback to wear Falcons uniforms in 2025.
Cousins met with Falcons owner Arthur Blank last week and asked him to trade with a team that has the chance to start for next season, Sports Illustrated reported.

However, blanks and falcons can bring the franchise's greatest benefits. What an organization decides has financial implications.
Cousins owes $27.5 million next season, whether they will play for the Falcons in 2025. A $10 million bonus will be applied for the 2026 season. By cutting off cousin connections and specifying transactions as releases from June 1st onwards, Atlanta will be able to diversify its salary cap over two years.

The Falcons have chosen to stick to their cousins, so for now, the front office will probably use the extra time to work on finding a team that is willing to trade. If trade is realized, Cousins will have final say as his contract includes non-trade clauses and therefore he is sent.
