The French prowess that claim six countries in the propaganda of such commanders has been undermined by what Gregor Townsend claims to be failing in rugby's current judicial system. Peato Mauvaka was shown a yellow card midway through the first half to make direct contact with Ben White, following a deliberate charge at the Scottish scrum half after play stopped.
The incident was featured for a review of the bunker, but it returned with the discovery that contact was not dangerous. Therefore, the card remained yellow and Maubakha returned to the field after 10 minutes with Singbin.
“The decision not to pull it up to the red card was because there was no undue force,” Townsend said. “I don't know if that's the standard for non-tackle cases. It was clearly not a tackle case. It was after whi. So if there was head contact and it was intentional, it should have nothing to do with power.”
The new 20 minute red card is generally intended to be reserved for technical crime in tackle situations. As this case was not qualified as such, Townsend felt that the judge should issue himself a straight red. After he introduced the incident to the bunker, the only option for the upgrade was to be 20 minutes red.
“It was after the play. I feel sorry for Ben White because he didn't do anything. He was pushed to the ground and then he collided in his head. I don't know how he wasn't raised to red. Who knows if that has something to do with the end result? France is a quality side and something that deserves champions. They were the better side in the end. But I think. [the bunker review system] Give the judge an out. We took decisions from the judges. That's the process we're currently speeding up the game, but we don't want to miss an incident, which is clearly a red card. ”
Townsend captain Rory Dalge agreed that the incident looked like a red card at the moment, but both deserved France to win. Their coach Fabian Gartier was furious over the weekend about what he saw as an Irish foul play, resulting in the loss of Antoine DuPont from serious injuries. However, galthié had an atmosphere of joy.
“I felt relieved,” he said. “I'm happy because I won. That was my goal. We achieved that, so the first feeling is happiness and joy.”
After the newsletter promotion
Gregory Aldritt, captain in DuPont's absence, agreed. “We're going to have fun. This group has already decided to win more titles. It's about having a good time, not making history. This tournament was really good. That's what rugby is about. That's the purpose of sports.”
