Rory McIlroy was ready for now – JJ Spaun wasn't.
McIlroy won a playoff victory in the Player Championship on Monday morning with a wind of 30 mph at TPC Sawgrass, earning a $4.5 million payment.
McIlroy was able to crush the driver on the PAR-5 16 to open a three-hole tally showdown and turn it into a two-putt birdie.
Spaun lost the tournament when he made a par and fired nine irons into the island's greenery and water after not falling up or down from the green side bunker.

Spaun continued to make triple bogeys. This made the bogeys McIlroy made at 17 and 18 unrelated.
He previously won at Pebble Beach in early February, making it McIlroy's second victory this season.
