On Monday, Trump took on the Center's first tour since being appointed to the new board. Trump has replaced former chairman David M. Rubenstein.

According to a statement from the Kennedy Center, new board members include Ushavance, Susie Wills, Dance Cabino, Allison Ruttonick, Linda Romangino, Mindy Levine, Pamela Gross, John Falconetti, Cheli Summerall, Sergio Gaul, Emilia Mayfan Jour, Patricia Dagagan and Danubleberg.

Trump announced the release of the JFK assassination file at the Center, highlighting the administration's commitment to transparency and open communication.

“While we were here I thought it was appropriate, I thought we would announce and provide all the Kennedy files tomorrow. So people have been waiting for this for decades, and I have directed my people… lots of different people, [director of national intelligence] Tulsi Gabbard, he must be released tomorrow,” he said.

“You've done a lot of readings. I don't think we'll edit anything. I said, 'I just don't edit, you can't edit,'” Trump continued.

In January, after taking office, Trump signed an executive order directing the release of federal documents related to the assassination of JFK, former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr.

“It's going to be all revealed,” Trump told reporters at the time.

Later, during his visit to the National Cultural Center, Trump also reported disappointment over the condition.

“The Kennedy Center, like so many of our countries, is incredibly devastated for management. Trump told reporters at the National Cultural Center. “So I'm so disappointed to look around. The bottom line is that it has so much potential.”

Trump has trouble with some of the structural aspects of the building, calling the exterior of the pillars outside and rooms built “underground” a “waste of money.”

Trump also expressed frustration with the outrageous costs of certain events with Kennedy Center employees and the exorbitant costs of certain events, and country music singer and Grammy-winner Lee Greenwood wanted to sing a song for the board meeting on Monday, but the center charged him $30,000 to “run the piano” and prepared the stage.

“This is a very important part of DC and I think it's important to make sure our country is in good condition and is well represented,” Trump continued.

“When people see this, I've heard for a long time that they're coming here, and when they come here, they're very disappointed. I want them to be excited.”
