A Federal Trade Commission member said he was “illegally fired” by President Trump.
In a statement Posted on social platform xAlvaro Bedoya said he ended illegally by Trump and calling it “simple and simple” corruption.
“The FTC is an independent institution established 111 years ago to fight fraudsters and monopolies. Our staff are not afraid of the world's Martin Schleris and Jeff Bezos. They take them to court and win,” Beduya said. “Now the President wants the FTC to become a lap dog for his golf buddy.”
The report spread that the massacre of other Democrats on the committee, Rebecca Kelly, was also fired.
White House officials confirmed that both commissioners had been rejected and did not provide further details.
Later last month, Senate Democrats pressed Trump's FTC candidate, Mark Maedor, on the agency's independence, due to concerns that the administration would be trying to influence the FTC's enforcement efforts.
Meador claimed he was there to serve Americans through an independent agency led by five commissioners.
Vowed to become the FTC commissioner in 2022, Bedoya said in his statement that it was an honor to serve the country through the institution. He highlighted the work he tried to do for Americans, including workers' rights and technology tracking.
“Whether you're a Republican or a Democrat, or someone who has a dislike for Washington, you can barely see the news. The FTC works for you,” he writes. “Who will Trump's FTC work for? Does it work for billionaires? Or will it work for you?”
The FTC has been in a partisan stalemate since the start of the Trump administration and the departure of former speaker Lina Khan.
Before the Democrats were fired, the FTC had one vacant committee. Currently there are Republican committee chairpersons, Chairman Andrew Ferguson and Melissa Holiork.
Bedoya said he would testify before the Colorado Joint House and Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, saying, “Well then we should say more,” but up until that point, he had a message to the public seeing the changes in the Trump administration. “Don't be scared. Please fight back.”
