Ukrainian President Voldymir Zelensky said Ukrainian private infrastructure was hit following a call between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday evening.
“Unfortunately, there have been hits, especially with private infrastructure,” Zelensky said. Post to social platforms X. “Direct blows by “Shahed” drones at Sumy's hospital, attacks in cities in the Donetsk region, and currently attacks the sky drones of Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy Regions.
“It is these types of nighttime attacks by Russia that destroy our energy sector, our infrastructure, and the normal lives of Ukrainians. And the fact that this night is an exception indicates that pressure on Russia must continue for peace,” he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, Trump and Putin made a call last week after Ukraine agreed to a proposed 30-day US ceasefire in the Russian-Ukraine conflict. According to a read from the Kremlin by Cole, the proposal was shot down by Putin, but he responded positively to a more restricted 30-day ceasefire at energy facilities on both sides of the war.
“Leaders agreed that the move towards peace begins with energy and infrastructure ceasefires, technical negotiations on the implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, a complete ceasefire and permanent peace,” a read from the White House said. “These negotiations will soon begin in the Middle East.”
Trump and his administration recently set out to push for an end to the war in Ukraine.
“Today, Putin effectively rejected the proposal for a ceasefire altogether. It would be right that the world responds by refusing to extend Putin's war,” Zelensky told X Post Tuesday.
“Sanctions against Russia. Assistance to Ukraine,” he added. “We are working to strengthen our allies in the free world and work towards security assurances. And as evidence of our willingness to end this war, only a true halt of Russia's strikes on civil infrastructure can bring peace closer.”
