Judge grants habeas corpus petition for Joshua Riibe

(News Nation) – A Dominican Republic judge ruled that the last person to see Sudixsha Conanki, a missing student at the University of Pittsburgh, could return to the United States at will.

Joshua Libe, 22, has been appointed as an interested person in Conanki's March 6 loss of failure. He was not charged with fraud or named as a suspect.

The verdict comes when Conanki's parents ask authorities to declare the 20-year-old's death.

“Sudiksha's family expressed their belief that she was drowned,” Loudon County Sheriff Michael Chapman said. statement Tuesday.

“The final decision to make such a declaration depends on the authorities of the Dominican Republic, but we will support the Conanki family in every way,” he added.

Authorities say that the friend who was with Libe at the resort where Conanki went missing is still in the Dominican Republic, but did not say whether he was detained there or if he could leave the country freely.
