Pope Francis' condition continued to improve Wednesday, and he didn't need to use non-invasive mechanical ventilation to help him breathe at night, the Vatican said.
The 88-year-old Pope also reduces his reliance on high-flow supplemental oxygen during the day, the Vatican said in the area in a medical post. His double pneumonia infection is not completely ruled out, but under control, the sacred press conference said.
Francis celebrated Mass on Wednesday. This is an important East Feast Day for the Catholic Church and the anniversary of his installation as Pope 12 years ago.
