Scottie Scheffler points finger at LIV as PGA merger talks drag on

Scotty Schaeffler pointed his finger at someone he thought was to blame for a broken golf condition.

Despite the framework agreement announced in 2023 between the PGA Tour and Saudi-backed LIV Golf, official agreements have not been reached as the long-term civil war in golf continues.

In a media call with reporters on Wednesday, the answer to missing out on competition from players who left for Liv has been turned into a responsibility session by golf stars.

“I definitely miss the competition,” Schaeffler said. According to Golf.com. “They got pretty good players on the tour. I think the PGA Tour has the best players in the world. Our field and depth of competition take over the best competition in the game of golf. So I'm still playing on the tour. I love the competition. I have malicious intentions towards one of the people who have left.

“They did what they wanted to do, and I have no control over their lives. I'm not going to sit here and say they should have done something else. They made their choices. They made their choices.

Comments came weeks ahead of the masters where the top players of the game once again compete with each other.

Major-qualified LIV golfers are not banned by Augusta National due to other PGA tour events.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monaghan told reporters last week at the athletes' championships. He said “I want the match to be reintegrated,” and that President Donald Trump's involvement in negotiations with the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) “has made the prospects of unity very realistic.”

However, the press conference had limited details about where the discussions actually lie.
