Rodney Terry's tenure in Texas appears to be coming to an end.
The Longhorns are “highly likely” to remove a male basketball coach from his position. Reported by 68 field Jeff Goodman Wednesday night.
The report comes as Texas lost 86-80, disappointed in their first four matchups with Xavier, failing to reach the 64 round.
Terry took over as interim coach for the 2022-23 season after then-bench boss Chris Beard was arrested and subsequently fired.
After taking over that season, Texas went 22-8, reaching the Elite Eight.
Last year they reached the tournament again, but bouncing off on a second loss.
However, this year, the program took a step back in its first year with the SEC.
Texas joined the conference tournament as the 13th seed, falling into the quarterfinals and ultimately finished runner-up.
Things then got off to a good start in Dayton on Wednesday night, with Texas holding an eight-point first half lead.

However, the second half is a different story, with Xavier surpassing the Longhorns 47-33 and earning the final spot in the first round of the big dance.
When asked how he would respond if this was his final game with the Longhorns, Terry said it was all out of his hand.
“At the end of the day, it is in God's hands. I live my life, I am a believer. If God has a plan for me to be here, I am here.” According to journalist Brian Davis, he said.
The team's 19 wins this year were Terry's low-running points in Texas.
If Texas actually fires Terry, it will be another major program to make coaching changes shortly after Indiana announced that it had hired former West Virginia coach Daryan DeBrees.
