Keith Urgo fired by Fordham after disastrous end to tenure

As others prepare for the NCAA tournament, Fordham is looking for a new men's basketball head coach.

The Rams fired Keith Urgo on Thursday, the university announced and will begin a “national search” for his successor.

Urgo was 50-49 in his three seasons at Fordham, but not in the NCAA Tournament.

After being promoted from associate head coach in April 2022 and Kyle Neptune replaced Villanova's Jaylight, Urgo breathed life into the program and led one of the best seasons of decades, finishing 25-8. The Rams lost to Dayton in the semi-finals of the Atlantic 10 tournament and did not participate in the postseason tournament.
