NYU men and women have shot to make history in Division III finals

NYU? So, why?

New York University will have the opportunity to make history for the NCAA Division III on Saturday as the first program to win a men's and women's championship in the same season that the team won the semi-finals on Thursday night.

Violet's women's team continued to roll into the title game with a 74-55 victory in the University of Wisconsin Stoout semi-finals in Salem, Virginia.

Bell Perecchia led the way with 22 points, while Natalie Brands added 19 as Sumire (30-0) took a 41-20 halftime lead.

The overall seed will win Smith College at 4pm on Saturday in a rematch of the 2024 Championship Game, where NYU won 51-41.

On the men's side, Hampton Sanders scored 10 points and Brock Sasco added 16 with 12 rebounds to win the 72-60 semi-finals over Washington University (St. Louis) in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

NYU (29-1) will be their first appearance at school since finishing in 1994, and will be appearing at Trinity College on Saturday at 4pm.
