Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani ‘hypocrite’ for real estate donations

The mayor of socialism is Zohran Mamdani He pledged not to receive donations from fat cats in real estate, However, his campaign's financial resources are packed with $3,700 from the industry.

The Queens Senator received $1,000 from Mohannad Malas, who heads Dana Investment Corp., a California-based company that develops and manages commercial and residential properties across the country.

He pocketed $150 from Joseph Riggs, the principal of the Hudson Company. Many of the company's New York projects include J Condominiums in Dumbo, Riverwalk Park on Roosevelt Island, and the Holdome Complex, founder of New York University in East Village.

Other contributions from Real Estate Big Wig include $100 from Matthew Hopkins, principal and co-founder of Acona Real Estate Advisors in Brooklyn. Eric Volpe, Principal of Corcoran Group, $50.

In addition to these direct contributions, Mamdani is eligible to receive an additional $2,400 from donations made by Riggs, Hopkins and Volpe.

“He may not bring in big money to other mayoral candidates. [ex-Gov. Andrew] Cuomo and [Mayor] Eric Adams attracted, but these donations show just how dishonest he is,” said a top NYC Democrat operative.

The real estate money that Mamdani funded is “he's a hypocrite,” said Hank Shenkopf, a longtime democratic political consultant.

“When he's not anywhere, he wants to be in three places at once.”

Mayor Brad Lander, another socialist running in the crowded Democratic mayoral primary, Brad Lander; He also pledged in December to make money from the principals of commercial real estate companies and other top executives. Mamdani's real estate money is just a small portion of his $3.67 million campaign Warchest, which as of last week tracked Lander's $3.74 million campaign fund among all mayoral candidates. Both POLs rely on small donations and are heavily boosted by public matching funds.

A Mamdani campaign spokesperson said they were “still sorting” the more than 17,000 donations they collected, but the post that they “flagrated for us” was “refunding the donations.”
