Multiple dead and injured in New Mexico shooting, police say

According to the Las Cruces Police Facebook page, three people have been killed and 14 injured in the shooting in Las Luces, New Mexico. Authorities say two of the deceased are 19 years old and one is 16 years old, with the injured age range between 16 and 36.

The crew of local NBC affiliate KTSM reportedly spoke to a family member who believed one of their relatives could have been killed in the shooting, but that has not been confirmed.

The shooting occurred at a city park around 10pm on Friday. The police have not arrestedhowever, they say they are “actively following multiple leads.”

New Mexico teenagers 13 and 15 have been charged with murder for a bicycle hit and run posted on social media

Police closed a road near Young Park when investigating the incident. They are supported by New Mexico State Police, the Donana Anna County Sheriff's Office, the FBI and the Department of Alcohol, and agents in cigarettes, firearms and explosives.

Councilman Russ Cruz and Mayor Pro Tem Johanna Bencomo wrote about the shooting On her Instagram.

“As with all the acts of gun violence in our city and beyond, my heart was affected by the victims and family. This was a heinous act of violence that mourned our city,” Bencomo wrote. “We'll be heavy and confusing for the next few days, but we have to focus on supporting the people and their families that have been directly affected.”

Bencomo also urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation and rumors, and advised “become thoughtful by sharing and repeating it.”
