U.S. Park Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect in Vandalism Case

The U.S. Park Police are reaching out to the public for assistance in identifying an individual captured on camera, as part of their investigation into damage inflicted on a reflecting pool near the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The incident took place around 3:36 p.m. on a Friday. According to the police, a video shows a person seemingly kneeling beside the reflecting pool while stretching their arm into the water.

This individual has dark hair and is seen wearing a gray shirt and black shorts, with a light-colored handbag in hand.

Curiously enough, the investigation follows an effort by President Trump to restore the reflecting pool, which had led to issues like peeling paint and an algae bloom that transformed the intended vibrant blue to a murky green.

President Trump, alongside various officials, noted that several arrests were made as well as individuals sought for their involvement in damaging the reflecting pool. “They probably used a box cutter or some sharp tool to tear it apart. Do you know why? Because they are sick people,” he stated during a Wednesday Oval Office discussion.

In a rather strong tone, Trump remarked, “These people should be in prison for a long time,” attributing the vandalism to what he referred to as “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” He mentioned that repairs would necessitate draining some water from the pool, additionally speculating that fertilizer might have been dumped in, contributing to the algae growth.

During the same discussion, he noted, “There’s a large grassy area around the reflecting pool,” and hinted that perhaps the same individuals were responsible for damaging the grass as well.

As the situation unfolds, the Park Police continue their search for answers and hope to bring those responsible to justice.
