We and Mexican authorities say a California woman wanted to kill the fire chief's wife, who was captured in Mexico more than a month after running around.
According to the Baja California Civic Security Office, 53-year-old Yolanda Malodi was arrested Saturday at a hotel in Mexicali near the US border.
She was later handed over to the US ex-season in San Diego, where she was booked for the murder of 49-year-old Rebecca Malody, the San Diego County Sheriff's Office said.
Yolanda previously served in prison for more than 13 years on voluntary manslaughter in the death of her then-husband, James Joseph Olezizak Jr., according to the California Department of Amendments and Rehabilitation. Before her release in 2013, she served in prison for more than 13 years.

Yolanda was seen in surveillance video arguing with Rebecca and physically attacking her on the day of her fatal stab wounds.

The detective said he could hear screaming, “Yolanda, I don't want to die.” The report read that Yolanda responded to Rebecca and said, “You should have been thinking about it.”

Surveillance video filmed Yolanda leaving the couple's home before Rebecca's mother arrived. Rebecca was found with several injuries to her neck, chest and back, and authorities said she was consistent with the stab wounds.

The sheriff's office said murder investigators are working to gather more information about the situation and motivation behind Rebecca's murder.
