Illinois shot the most of the teams still on the field (30.1 per game) and sank 12 in a first-round victory over Xavier.

But Kentucky doesn't care about shooting contests. Because Coby Blair (44.1 percent) was one of the most accurate 3-point shooting games in the country.

(7) St. Mary's vs. (2) Alabama

6:10pm, TNT

We'll talk about style conflicts.

St. Mary's ranked 360th in tempo (out of 364 teams), making it one of the slowest teams in the country.

Alabama, meanwhile, ranks first. This means that teams who play the game at a priority pace should have an advantage.

(12) Colorado vs. (4) Maryland

7:10pm, TBS

Maryland freshman Derrick Queen and Colorado's Neek Clifford may have a draft pick that has a squared one-time draft.

The Queen's ball handling and passing are rare at 6-foot-10 centers, but Clifford is a deadly external shooter (3-38.4%) and rebounds very well for guards (9.7 per game).

(10) New Mexico vs. (2) Michigan

8:40pm, TNT

New Mexico's Richard Pitino made history with his victory over No. 7 Marquette on Friday, completing his first father-son coaching duo to win the game in the same NCAA tournament.

To make more history since 1974 and reach New Mexico's first sweet 16, he has to disrupt Hall of Fame Tom Izzo and his Deep Michigan team.

The Spartans go deep to 10, with no players average above 12.9 ppg.

(5) Oregon vs. (4) Arizona

9:40pm, TBS

March Madness' first weekend closes with a clash between former Pac-12 rivals. Arizona took a 55-38 lead in the best series of all time, playing Oregon 2-1 in 2024, sharing the meeting last year.

Arizona Guard Caleb Love (16.4 PPG) has already led 11 career NCAA tournament games to the belt as they led North Carolina to a national title game in 2022.
