The film is projected to make around $45 million this weekend, predicting a difficult battle to make money from the film. The film also sits on 44% of rotten tomatoes awful.
New York Times The review characterized the film as “even good enough to praise it, but so bad enough to be happy to skewer.” Guardian It was classified as a “lol live-action remake that is terrible toes.”
Film marketing started off a negative start after Disney first decided to “take a different approach.”
Disney's first decision to reconsider the seven dwarves after dwarves actor Peter Dinkraj criticized the film for his portrayal of the dwarves before the studio reversed the course and CGI decided to animate the seven dwarves.
“There's literally no attack on anyone, but I was a little surprised. [when] They were very proud to cast the Latina actress as Snow White, but you're still telling the story of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” Dinklage said in early 2022.
“You're progressing in a way, but you're still making a backward story about the seven dwarfs who live in the cave together. What are you doing?
Critics began to tear the film apart as “awakening” and “political correct,” but that was just the beginning of a downward spiral.
Rumors of tension have risen between Latina Snow White actress Rachel Zegler and Jewish actress Gal Gadot, who has expressed dissent over the war in Gaza.
Before the trailer was released in December, Zegler wrote “Free Palestine” for X, but Gadot expressed sympathy for the Israelis on October 7th.thattacks by Hama Stellarists in 2023.
Several Arab organizations called for boycotting the film to support Gadot's casting and vocal support against Gadot's Israeli war, arguing that the film should not be shown in the Arab world.
“Gal Gadot does not represent art. She represents occupation, violence and military force that continues to cruelly act against the Palestinians,” wrote the Jordanian campaign to support resistance and Bahraini society in a joint statement, a campaign boycotting Israeli supporters.
“Allowing her to star in Snow White is an attempt to disinfect her image and distract her from her unwavering support for the Israeli invasion,” the statement continued.
Worse, following the election, Zegler later apologised after denounced President Donald Trump and his supporters, writing that “supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself may never know peace.”
Zegler also praised the film's political correctness, saying in December, “People are making these jokes about what we're Snow White.”
“It's an 85-year-old cartoon, and our version is a refreshing story about a young woman who has more features than 'One day My Prince' will come',” she added.
Additionally, the dwarf actor was recently announced in protest against the film before the premiere of Disney's decision to use CGI on seven dwarfs, rather than hiring dwarf actors.
“Disney is making live-action films and instead of giving seven talented little people a chance to shine, they completely scrapped us and used CGI instead,” said dwarf actress Ali Chapman.
The remake was written by “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig and directed by Mark Webb.
