TCU’s turnaround has reached first-ever March Madness Sweet 16

Had TCU coach Mark Campbell had it, he would have stayed on the post-game podium all night Sunday night, answering reporters' questions and gushing about his team.

He didn't want this happiness to go away.

For the first time in program history, the Horn Frog survived the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. Second-seeded TCU defeated sixth-seeded Louisville 85-70 to advance to Sweet 16.

“I'm very proud of this group,” Campbell sparkled. “To accomplish something that has never been done here – men or women – it's really, really difficult to make it on Sweet 16. Somehow Haley [Van Lith] It seems like she does that every year, so it's normal for her. Everyone else, that's not normal. ”

They only won eight games two years ago, thinking that everything is going on for TCU, the TCU that held an open tryout last year and confiscated the game.

Campbell pulled away one of the fastest and most notable program turns in recent memory.

He did that by embracing the modern college athletics landscape.

Most of this team consists of forwarding.

For Van Lis, TCU is her third school in five years.

She played for Louisville for three seasons at the previous LSU.

However, Campbell's aggressive efforts in the transfer portal have paid off, putting TCU on the map.

“It's cool to get into the program, see the beginning of it, talk to Mark and see him watching the team and all of us come and trust his process and the plans he had for us,” Donobin Hunter said. “He took a great risk to us and we took a risk to this program. …But it's not surprising at all that he's breaking all these record points in history.”

TCU is scheduled to play third-seeded Notre Dame on Saturday and travels Elite Eight to the line.

The horned frog defeated the Irish earlier this season, but both teams have grown significantly since their meeting in late November.

Two in the Final Four (along with Louisville in 2022 and LSU in 2024) Vanlis knows that if the team wants to continue this run, the TCU should remain locked.

“If they're happy after winning these first two games, the other teams will be hungry at Sweet 16,” Van Liss said. “It's all about being hungry and staying motivated. You don't want to be a happy team next Saturday. …These days we prepare will be huge.
