DoorDash now offering eat now, pay later payments through Klarna

Eat Now – Pay later.

Doordash partners with Klarna (buy now, pay later) to provide customers with the opportunity to fund meals and other retail purchases.

Over the next few months, customers will be able to select payment options when they purchase grocery, other retail products, Dash Pass annual plan at doordash.com, or via the app. press release.

Payment options include four equivalent interest-free installments or four “pay later” payments. This allows customers to “defer payments to more convenient times, such as dates that match their pay schedule.”

“As we expand our offerings, from groceries and beauty to electronics to gifts, flexible payment options are essential to meeting our customers' needs,” said Anand Subbarayan, head of money products at Doordash, in a statement.

Deferrals for food purchases are becoming more common. Doordash Rival Grubhub already offers choice.

This move comes as food and grocery prices are rising sharply and Americans are realizing they are in more debt.

The collaboration could help people who rely on delivery services, some supporters say.

“People who are supported by disabilities and other forms of service use Doordash for their weekly and monthly groceries, which will probably help them,” one commented on Tiktok.

“This is convenient for groceries, especially those who don't have vehicles or live near grocery stores,” another squealed.

Another pointed out that using Klarna is similar to charging something with a credit card.

However, some people quickly pointed out that they felt absurd.

“When Doordash provides payment plans, something is grossly wrong,” said content creator Matt Buechele I said in a Tiktok video. “If you have to fund the Burrito Bowl, you won't scream for a golden age of prosperity.”

“I know that the price of groceries is getting higher and everyone is struggling, but with McFlurry's four installation payment plans, you lost the plot, you're my friend,” he added.

“Y'all for golana mcdonald's. Lord, get help,” someone said, keep x.

“What does it mean to have $11k in 'Doordash debt'?” I was kidding.

“I've finished paying off Starbucks drinks since last year, so this is perfect.” I wrote it.

“If you need Klarna to order food, you shouldn't order food.” It was pointed out.

Klarna responded to “Repulsion” with a blog post entitled “.”Convenience is not cost“We will clarify the purpose of the service and explain how Klarna can be used with Doordash for purchases over $35.

“Today, the news of our partnership with Doordash sparked a conversation about using credits to buy food. This is an important discussion and we are very welcomed by it,” the company wrote in a blog post.

“This partnership is an opportunity to give customers the most choice and control over how they pay,” he read. “People should pay as much as possible, but if you need credit, it's important to choose smarter and more responsible options.”
