Patton Kizzire Issues Apology For Punting The Living Hell Out Of His Putter During Valspar Championship

No need to apologize, Patton! I personally thought the scene was great!

There was a lot of irritation among PGA players recently at the Valspar Championship that took place at Innisbrook’s Copperhead Course. But Patton Kizzire‘s crash-out might just take the cake.

During the opening round Thursday, Kizzire got absolutely livid at one point and erupted out of anger.

Having got through the first five holes of the Valspar, his score was at one-over par when he was tasked with a six-foot par putt. Well, he ended up missing the shot on the lower side, and afterwards, it looked like he was about to tap in his ball and settle for the bogey. Rather, he punted the living hell out of his putter so hard and so far that he ended up damaging it. Two holes later, Kizzire ended up withdrawing from the Valspar due to a claimed back injury. You can watch the video of the punt here.

Fast forward a few days later, and Kizzire is now apologizing for the incident, doing so in a video on Instagram.

“I just wanted to address the situation at the Valspar Championship last week. I wasn’t feeling well and I certainly lost my cool,” said Kizzire. “It wasn’t my putter’s fault, I just lost my cool and it’s unacceptable. I’m looking forward to being a better version of myself and I appreciate you guys understanding.”
