Authorities say the 12-year-old Ohio boy died Saturday after the man who cared for him allegedly forced the child to a back-to-back ice bath and intense exercise.
According to criminal charges obtained by local news outlets, preteen victim Jadako Taylor was also allegedly ordered by Anthony McCantz, 23, to do push-ups and other exercises during the “cold plunge.”
McCantz, who knows Taylor's family, was watching the boy around 5am. To the Akron Beacon Journal.
He then asked the child to do an additional 30-minute “ice bath,” and would do more exercises, the complaint said.
However, Taylor begins to “vomit and grab” before Medic was called to his house and attempted to save his life around 2:30pm.
His core body temperature was only 74 degrees. Reported by Cleveland.com – More than 20 degrees lower than the average body temperature of a child.

The cruel treatment was allegedly used by McCantz “as corporal punishment.”
McCantz, who also lives in Akron, was arrested, put the welfare of his child at risk and was taken into custody on $500,000 bail, court records show.
According to the Akron Beacon Journal, it was not clear what McCants had had with Taylor, but reported that the caller who dialed police when the child began a medical emergency claimed that he was his younger brother.
