Walmart is planning to skip eggs with an Easter meal offer this year, the US retail giant said Wednesday in the midst of a shortage and empty prices that have been surged by the outbreak of avian flu between poultry.
Walmart's Easter 2025 promotion includes a meal kit with nine ingredients, including ham, russette potatoes, corn corn, and cream cake.

However, what's not particularly present in this year's kit is the eggs, which was an important part of last year's offering.

The kits were offered up to 10 people at an average cost of less than $8 per person, the retailer said.
“(2025) basket items are based on some of the most popular Easter meal items. This year, they didn't contain ingredients that are usually found in pantry, such as salt, pepper, butter, milk and eggs.”
The widespread outbreak of bird flu among egg-soaked chickens has led to record prices, creating a serious shortage of eggs on grocery shelves, forcing retailers to set purchase restrictions, and increasing menu prices as restaurants run out of products.
The US is considering importing Brazilian and broiler chicken eggs for processed foods, easing crunches and releasing fresher eggs for shoppers.
Walmart, the country's largest grocery store, does not impose wide-ranging purchase restrictions on eggs in stores, despite the dynamic cost of eggs and the supply is tight at locations, Moriarty said.
Currently, the only limits are the purchase of 60 count cartons to 6 units per purchase and online, she added.
Walmart's grocery revenue rose by one single figure for the quarter between January 31 and January 31, the company said in February, partially boosted by egg price inflation.
