Houston police are looking for a man who crashed the car into a ditch at 100 mph, escaped from the scene and left the injured family.
Reports from a local outlet said the father was driving with his wife and four children when the SUV crashed into a pickup truck.
Surveillance footage shows a man's speeding of a Ford expedition on Yale Street when what appeared to be a Chevrolet avalanche truck spins in front of the expedition and cuts the car.
A crash caused the expedition to turn the family into a ditch and overturn them.
Investigators believe the SUV was travelling about 100 miles per hour when the accident occurred.
An 8 year old child was thrown from the car, Fox 26 It has been reported.
Police say the other children looked like toddlers.
Although the pickup residents were not injured, the family of SUV drivers has been hospitalized in two serious conditions, and three have been hospitalized in serious conditions.
HPD said the expedition driver ran following the accident and received another car to pick him up.
“I don't know what was going on in his mind at the time. I don't know if there's any other reason why he felt he needed to get away,” Ryan Watson said.
“The investigators here follow the follow-down leads and they're following it and trying to track it down and see if they can talk to him and get some answers and find out what's going on.”
Authorities said they were still looking for drivers on the expedition.
