Pronouns or else: Irish teacher’s bank account ‘raided’ for refusal to use student’s pronouns

Irish teacher Enoch Burke has faced serious consequences from the Irish government and courts after refusing to use the pronouns of transgender students' preferences and cited his Christian beliefs.

Burke was suspended by schools in 2022 and empty the court. Then, in March 2025, the High Court ordered the Bank of Ireland to transfer money to the Bank of Ireland to cover fines of more than 79,100 euros with fines for ignoring orders to leave school.

“My name is Enoch Burke and I am a German and history teacher at Wilson's hospital school,” Burke said in a video uploaded to social media. “I'm standing outside my local Bank of Ireland branch today.”

“This is my bank and I have just tried to withdraw funds from this bank account, but it has not been successful. The account has been frozen at the High Court by Judge Nolan's order,” he continued, adding, “I want to make it clear that I did not inform anything about this.”

“This is my bank account. I've received my salary over the past seven years. Today is payday, Thursday, and I'm receiving my salary for the last two weeks of work that normally ends on Friday, but today I haven't received anything.

Pat Grey from “Pat Grey Unsash” is in shock.
