Valery Kogan’s Plaza home has found a buyer

Russian airport billionaire Valerie Kogan and his wife, Olga, have found a buyer of luxury gold and Onyk condominiums at the landmark plaza hotel in Manhattan.

After sought $50 million following the full-scale invasion of Russia's Ukraine in 2022, the Plazapad (who was decorated like a Mini Versailles) is currently seeking $23 million at the end, and is currently under contract. The final selling price and new owner are not yet known.

The 5,302-square-foot apartment is located on the 10th floor of the famous buildings on 5th Avenue and Central Park South. This is a combination of two units, 1007 and 1009, offering views of Central Park.

Another one-bedroom in the 782-square-foot apartment across the hall at 1008 is not part of this agreement.

Kogan once approached Putin, but now in conflict. It is fighting the ownership of Moscow's Domodedovo Airport. The 21-storey Plaza Hotel was built in the French Renaissance style in 1907, inspired by the Chateau and designed by Henry J. Hardenberg. Kogans bought the two units for about $26 million and combined them.

Details of the over-the-top design include 24 carat gold trim, expensive stones, Venetian plaster, vaulted ceilings, oversized windows, wall wall mount machines, and custom cabinets.

The residence leads to a foyer that leads to a fantastic room with high ceilings, paneled walls, crystal chandeliers and inlay floors.

There is also a formal dining room with a chef's kitchen and a column overlooking Central Park, but there is a built-in bar in the hallway.

Currently struggling with a massive global real estate sale, Kogans sold Israeli penthouses for $33 million and a 515 Park Ave. condo for $14.5 million. Additionally, they have another home in Israel, which was originally listed for $259 million, and are now dramatically seeking $89 million, according to the report. Finally, Kogans sold seven-acre Greenwich in Greenwich, Connecticut for $10.4 million. As Gimme Shelter previously reported, the house is 18 Simmons Lane, once asked $20 million and features a turret.

Charlie Attias of Compass, a listing broker at Plaza Hotel Apartments, declined to comment.
