Elise Stefanik agrees to withdraw her nomination to maintain GOP’s ‘razor-thin’ majority in House

Rep. Elise Stefanik, a Republican from New York, agreed on Thursday to withdraw his appointment as a UN ambassador to maintain a Republican majority in the U.S. House, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.).

Republicans remained in control of the House, but reduced margins in the 2024 election, and Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul informed him that if she leaves her seat, he would slow down Stefanik's replacement.

“Elyse will remain in Congress and rejoin the House leadership team and continue to fight for our incredible Americans.”

President Donald Trump praised Stefanik statement About the true society after retreat.

“As we move forward with America's first agenda, it is essential to maintain all Republican seats in Congress. We must be united to achieve our mission. Elise Stefanik has been an important part of our efforts from the beginning,” Trump wrote.

He went on to say he asked Stefanik to stay in Congress to maintain his “strict” majority.

“I don't want to get a chance from others running for Elise's seat,” he added. “There are others who can do a good job at the UN. So Elise will remain in Congress, rejoin the House leadership team and continue to fight for our incredible Americans.”

Johnson Confirmed Trump pulled out the nomination and Stefanik agreed to the decision.

“The well-known Republicans have a majority of razor-thin homes,” he wrote.

Democrats were hit by decision Claim That proves that Americans reject Trump's agenda.

“If the administration's actions were popular, they wouldn't have pulled Stefanik's nomination,” said a California Democrat. “But what Trump is doing isn't popular. It's bat**t insanity. Americans are tired of incompetent, lies and illegal activities. That's why Dems keep winning special elections.”

Before the November election, Republicans had a majority in the House of Representatives with nine seats, but only dropped to five seats after the election. Stefanik's losses would further jeopardize his ability to pass the law for the majority.
