Russian scientist detained by Ice at Boston airport

A Russian scientist who worked at Harvard Medical School was taken into custody at Boston Logan International Airport, where he was about to return from a trip to Paris on February 16th.

Kseniia Petrova, bioinformatician at the Kirschner Lab, had regained the frog embryo at the request of a professor at Harvard University, a French lab.

US officials at Boston Logan International Airport have revoked their visa instead of following protocols, her lawyer said.

“Like I'm just as upset as ice, they're not negligent, they're just doing their job,” he says.

“We initially didn't know what happened to her because we couldn't send a message to her or call her when we were detained. She was initially moved to a Vermont facility, then to what she was now Louisiana. Petrova is currently being held at the Richwood Detention Facility in Louisiana and is hearing an immigration court on May 7th in Jena, Louisiana in connection with her asylum case.
