New York Dragons hire Long Island native as head coach in search of local talent

These dragons have a new master.

The New York Dragons introduced Long Island Football Great Gerald Firaldi as head coach ahead of their first year on the arena football team at the Entertainment Football Association (ENTFLA).

“There's a lot to do in the new league, but that's exciting,” Firaldi told the Post, adding that he's already seen local universities like Stony Brook for his homemade recruits.

Firaldi, who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers throughout his life and varsity head coach at Half Hollow Hills West, knows the path around Gridiron.

In fact, the Dragons opportunity first came to light in his high school tenure.

“The dad, the former player, reached out to me… And I laughed at it and be honest,” he said honestly.

“Then it went into the back of my head and I thought, 'I'm really interested in this.' …It's exciting, we're going to join the mix for the championship. ”


In Long Island baseball action, Carl Place heads to Inago Valley at 5pm on Friday, with Connecticot hosting Elmira at 10am on Saturday.
