Karen Read trial: Juror in mistrial joins defense for 2nd trial

The Massachusetts lawyer, who served as an alternative ju umpire for Karen Reed's misconduct last year, joined her defense days before she was scheduled to attempt a second crime of murder at the death of Boston police officer John O'Keefe.

Victoria George filed a notice of appearance in the defense of Reid on Wednesday, court records show.

She is a Princeton alumnus who graduated from Northeastern University's law school in 2020, according to her LinkedIn profile, and in a recent interview, she said that her first trial had shaken her faith in the Massachusetts criminal justice system.

“As a lawyer, if I was too afraid to stand up to what I believed in, who would do that?” He spoke to Vanity Fair this week.

George was unable to contact us immediately on Friday for comment.

Reed, 45, is charged with murder twice, leaving the scene of a fatal accident in connection with O'Keefe's death on January 29, 2022.

This is the first time I've heard of such a situation.

The prosecutor reads as hitting O'Keefe in a Lexus SUV after a drunken argument and accussed him of running away from the scene. She maintains her innocence, claiming that she was framed and someone else in the afterparty had killed him.

However, the ju judges were unable to reach an agreement after the first trial.

Karen Reed Trial: Detective Reed's wife slammed the police murderer's media tour as “relentless propaganda.”

Chief investigator Michael Proctor, former Massachusetts trooper, was fired last week after an internal investigation into his handling of the case. This includes sending vulgar text messages about the defendant read in court. Wanting to kill him, he searched for a naked selfie and wanted to call him “Wakjob” and “c–.”

“Based on his own words, he had a rather strong personal bias against the person who was the defendant's chairman,” George told Vanity Fair. “How do you trust the evidence that comes from his investigation?”

Proctor declined to comment on the case, but his wife and sister told Fox News Digital earlier this month that she was the only person charged by the big ju trial despite allegations that someone else had killed O'Keefe.

Philadelphia area defense counsel and former prosecutor David Gelman said this was the first case of knowing where a former ju judge joined the defense ahead of the second trial. It is also a good sign of lead defense, he said.

“Usually, a retrial doesn't work. That's why hang judges are a victory for the defendant,” he told Fox News Digital. “Since the last case, officers who have been fired for bad behavior have been involved, so evidence that benefits prosecutors is suppressed and there is media attention to making reads look better. Prosecutors have ruined the dogs.”

A new trial for Read is scheduled to begin Tuesday. This time it will be tested by Hank Brennan, a special prosecutor who previously defended Gang Whitey Bulger.

O'Keefe's family is also named in the Read in a Fulluffle Death lawsuit.
